Mike French: Future Tech Now
|
March 2010
What if every house had a device the size of a house brick that generated all of their energy needs at very low cost with virtually no emissions? All from a device that’s smaller than a house brick? My thoughts first went to the Back To The Future movies, where Doc Brown’s DeLorean sports car was powered by the Mr Fusion power unit from the future.
If the until now super secret Bloom Energy - a silicon valley start-up funded with over 400 million dollars in venture capital money - is to be believed this is exactly what might be possible. In fact not only is it possible but larger industrial sized units have been in place at major corporations such as Google, eBay and Wal-Mart for up to 18 months now.
